HouseSouthcoast Magazine: Autumn 2007: Making a Splash!: Fate has undeniably had a hand in the formation of M.A.G. Irrigation, Inc. Co-owners George and Maggie Carvalho were both born in Portugal and, while their families knew each other, the couple didn't meet until many years later in New Bedford. The relationship they formed went on to produce a family, and the successful lawn sprinkler business that will be celebrating its 20th year of customer satisfaction. The Carvalho's were well ahead of their time when they first got into the lawn sprinkler business. It was in their tenement apartment, while starting their family, that the couple inititally weighed the pros and cons of starting up their own irrigation company. At a time when each and every trench had to be dug by hand, the industrious young businessman and his wife felt strongly enough about the future of the irrigation industry that they chose to invest all of their time, money, and energy into their fledgling company - an investment that paid off handsomely. HouseSouthcoast Magazine: June/July 2008: Saving Water and Money:These days everybody’s looking for a way to save money, and we here at M.A.G. Irrigation, Inc. are currently looking into two new and innovative products to help you do just that! These cutting-edge additions to both existing and newly installed lawn sprinkler systems can help to maximize the efficiency of your system, utilizing the latest technology in moisture sensing and weather monitoring.
The new satellite driven weather monitoring station is like having a weatherman in your own backyard, as it gathers real time weather data via satellite, and then transmits that data directly to your sprinkler system’s timer. Unlike a rain sensor, which detects moisture in the air, the satellite system detects incoming rain hours in advance, and will tell your timer whether to water the lawn, or skip that cycle and let Mother Nature do the job for you. HouseSouthcoast Magazine: August/ September 2008: M.A.G. Makes Customers Happy: Peter Goranson is one of the few people in his Fairhaven neighborhood lucky enough to have a front yard, and he loves it when people stop to tell him how beautiful it is. He used to water the colorful flower beds daily with a hand-held hose or a lawn sprinkler, but his watering days are over, and the flowers have never looked better. "I thought about having an irrigation system installed for quite awhile. When the time came, I got quotes from four different companies, and chose M.A.G. Irrigation. I'm glad I did, because they're very knowledgable and professional," Goranson said. The garden enthusiast is already kicking himself for not doing it sooner, saying "I knew it would be good, but not this good! Now we can go away and not have to worry about who's going to water the flowers while we're gone." (Download .PDF)
