The Baseline Water Tec 100 Moisture Sensor measures the amount of moisture in your soil by measuring its “field capacity”.  Very much like a sponge, your soil soaks up water and holds moisture for period of time determined by humidity, temperature, wind, and other factors. The Water Tec 100, once calibrated to match your soil’s needs, will not allow moisture levels to surpass your field capacity, thus insuring you don’t lose water to the sub-soil.  When used in conjunction with your rain sensor, the Water Tec 100 will help you save water (by up to 50%!), prevent overwatering,  as well as save you time on adjustments to accommodate changes in the weather.
